Minority Youth Forum Sep.3(Sun)–6(Wed)
This year our field study will take us to “Little Okinawa” in Taisho ward and “Korea Town” in Ikuno ward. In Taisho ward we’ll learn the history of those who migrated from the southern islands of Okinawa, and how they have maintained their identity over the years. In Ikuno ward we’ll learn the history behind formation of the Korean community here, and think together about the problem of hate speech.
We will also study the “Jinruikan Incident” that arose in 1903 at the Osaka international exposition and consider how past events are related to discrimination today. During the Forum participants will deepen understanding of what is learned, through discussion, roleplay and other multi-dimensional tools.
